Rain, Rain, Rain!

So, here's the thing about Vancouver: It rains. A lot. What does one need for rain? Good quality, yet somewhat fashionable, rain gear. This is not an easy feat, my friends. I've lived in this city for a couple years now and I've acquired some great gear. But sadly, my patent black, silver buckled rain boots are literally (and I don't use that word willy nilly - pet peeve) falling apart. For some reason, they are covered in paint, ripping at the seems, and the bottom of my left (or is it the right one?) boot doesn't prevent the water from soaking through = soggy, cold, yucky sock. SO, the time has come for this Vancouverite to decided if I really need those classic Hunter Wellies, OR, just go with a more inexpensive brand, though equally cute. $100 for a pair of rain boots? My student budget cries at this thought but my cold left foot rejoices. What's a girl to do?
